Toshiba Announces $40,704 in Grants for 28 Innovative STEM Classroom Projects

12/11/2025

New awards from Toshiba America Foundation support creative Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) education programs for grades 6–12.

Orange County, Calif. — December 12, 2025 — Toshiba America Foundation (TAF) today announced $40,704 in grants to fund 28 classroom projects for students in grades K–12. These awards empower educators nationwide to bring STEM to life through hands-on, project-based learning.

The new grants will support programs in agriscience, biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, and more. Many projects also explore community issues through real-world applications in coding, robotics, drones, virtual reality, and sustainability.

One recipient, Ms. Keisha Lewis’, Howard University Public Charter MS of Mathematics & Science, NW Washington DC, Data Detectives project will turn her 6th-grade math class into a real-world lab. Her students will collect data—air quality, temperature, sound, and more—using simple sensors and tools. They’ll analyze patterns, explore ratios and percent change, and share findings at a spring showcase with Howard University. This project keeps math at the center while building data literacy and clear communication.”.

“STEM occupations are vital to the long-term growth and stability of the U.S. economy,” said John Anderson, President of TAF. “Through these grants, TAF empowers teachers to create engaging classrooms that inspire the next generation of problem solvers, innovators, and leaders.”

TAF’s “direct-to-teacher” grant model ensures immediate impact, funding classroom projects designed by educators themselves. By supporting creative, hands-on approaches, the Foundation helps students see STEM as both accessible and exciting.

As Toshiba celebrates its 150th anniversary, these grants reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to education and to building a resilient, sustainable future.
